Christmas is special! For me, it lives every day; easy enough since I believe I’m Santa Claus!
Lady Candice Leah made it an important aspect of the holidays to bake cookies with the girls when they were little; she brought Z. Tyler into the “fun” and they all still participate.
Me?---Well!?...I do my part. Sure enough. I eat the cookies! Mmm! Mmm! Good!
When I was a sprout, Mom baked 5 lard cans (2 ½-gallons each) full of cookies, each a different kind. Yeah! I ate those, too. More---Mmm! Mmm!...Good! Some things never change.
Sometimes I actually helped---uh! er! Bake them…Not eat them. Yeah! I ate many more than I helped bake; some things never change. Hey! Santa gets some privileges!? (I think so!)

Christmas Always & Day 348 CJSM-book IV

Following is taken from Christmas Always
book; visit: Amazon books; search  Carl Schuler

Author’s Note

“Why can’t everyday be just like Christmas?” Queried that infamous crooner gospel-king.

“But, it is. Indeed! Elvis! For those who choose to live it true!” I proclaim.

Find some: Christmas Magic! I invite the reader to create: Tradition: Faith! Family! Freedom!

Funny thing, how the “elite” erudite sophisticates keep busy preaching to “We, the people…” that “they”, the geniuses, are absolutely correct about all things while their promotions nearly always turn out to be---Wrong! Pernicious, indeed, is the world’s coordinated evil assault on religion, Christian values and worthy virtues; yet, not one secularist ever refuses the goodness of the benefits of Christmas as they struggle and search to secure any true meaning in their own lives. Purposeful-intent for goodness concludes satiated “Peace on earth!” Indeed!

Gather family in front of the fireplace on Christmas Eve to enjoy a traditional tale. Add the experience to the nostalgia of your own family heritage of comfort-warm holiday memories.

Santa Claus displays a Christian attitude-of-generosity second only to our Lord and Savior, Christ Jesus, whose life testament is the greatest “love story” ever told.

Rejoice! Brethren! Rejoice! Open wide thy hungry eyes; drink deep the chalice of His love!

Salvation is at hand; redeem His gift; embrace it, cherish it, live it.

Christ is born---and…lives! Indeed! And, that truth is:

Christmas Magic!

Introduction

Where else to begin a Christmas tale than right at its very inception:

Christmas Eve!

In that tiny ancient town thirteen years plus two long millennia quickly passed in history, the rustic stable shelter there to house the Innocent’s birth to lay in a manger warm, without fanfare or royal clarion call or even, announcement of any fathomed import to the “elite” of that era, came to be the Christ-child, our Redeemer-Savior King. And, so it is written, and, so it is, the subtle Trinity silently attested an eternal Truth: Faith! Family! Freedom! Amen!

That since those holy times and reverenced days, mankind has held the sacred event in humble adoration with the world’s most renowned celebration of Christian Salvation. It seems, then, now might be appropriate to offer reverent prayer to honor, praise and glorify the focus of our exaltation; worthy adulation for the birth of our Savior-Lord, Jesus Christ!

A solitary flickering flame from one lone candle bright in that holy residence on a cold winter night some eons past did Light the Way to show the Path in Spirit Grace to celestial Love. Yet, for that singular eternal reward, He requires only belief in Jesus-God born man and His Resurrection from that stone tomb to salvage a wretched soul like me.

Faith! One Awesome God!

And, I pray, that humble I, like He, surround myself, His time, His gift, my life, with that next most precious commodity: Family! For they were with Him that sacred day, the Virgin-Mother, Mary, and surrogate human father, Joseph the Saint, along with several shepherds, un-applauded believers, and celestial angels of the Seraphim and Cherubim, that holy, sacred, heavenly choir.

Yet, not to interfere with man and slander the Father’s precious gift of choice to decide for each own soul the spirit’s way to salvation find. The heaven-sacred bestowed treasure: Freedom!

So, within these humble pages here, to wit, the black print upon the white, a humble offered prayer to Him on the celebrated anniversary of His dear birth in thankful adoration true. Amen!

May the reader of the prayer find peace and solitude along with Christmas blessings, always!

Merry Christmas!

Day 348

Doves, doves and more doves for Nanny

Lady Candice is a most unique Independent-Individual and the center of our family.
She keeps me “grounded” while taking good care of me and the extended tribe. In a word, Miss Candy is: Love! If you look up the word in the dictionary, you’ll find Candy’s picture.
She raises mourning doves; I’ve built her numerous cages over the years; Miss Becky constructed quite an elaborate and fancy cage (she is a civil engineer, after all); I’m a “hack”.
Once Candy had 46 doves in her “nice” cage; a weasel got in and massacred most of them. We managed to save about six of the injured, which recovered; presently, she has five.
When I was a kid, I raised pigeons. I scrounged used lumber for a cage; they make good pets.

Day 346

April 1---Mom comes into Becky’s room to tell her
there is no school because it snowed---
April Fools’…Becky is still sad!

One thing this family has is a tremendous “sense-of-humor”. Each and every one of us.
Even Lovely Lady Candice can pull off some real hysteria when she wants to be “funny”.
April Fool’s Day is one good time to deliver some real zingers; Candy got Becky, that day!
The very worst, and probably the meanest, trick I played on Rachel was when she was about 7 or 8 years old. I played the lottery and we bought tickets in town about ten miles away; then we’d wait for the drawing and check our “lucky” tickets for winners at home.
One cold Saturday night, we got home and fired up the fireplace, made some popcorn and watched a little T.V. About ten o’clock, or so, I called the lottery store to get the “winning” numbers which I wrote down. Nothing unusual about this agenda---so far!
Coming into the family room, I gave Becky our ticket and told her to check it against the “winning” combination I had just gotten from the lottery store over the phone.
As I read off the “magic” six numbers, little Becky’s eyes got bigger and bigger; each matched our “lucky” ticket! She was beside herself with the $6 million winning chance.
“We won! We won!” she repeated ecstatically, over and over, beside herself with joy.
I acted real angry, snatched the “winning” ticket from her little hand, crumpled it up saying, “You made that up! It’s not nice to lie. I am so angry…” and with that declaration I threw the “winning” ticket into the roaring fire in the fireplace. Becky was absolutely devastated---crying!
When things settled down, I started laughing, explaining, “Becky! I gave you the numbers that were on that losing piece of trash and ‘fooled’ you---those aren’t the winning numbers!”
I don’t know if she has forgiven me for that atrocity even after all these years! She shouldn’t!
I apologized for my callousness to that “innocent” little girl---it was really mean…I’m sorry!
Sometimes practicing “humor” shows the perpetrator to be just another---Smart…ass!
And, for that sick-joke, I confess “guilt”---I’ve been making it up to her…ever sense! Amen!
