One day?---“What” of me? Or…today?
Might never have amounted to much
by way of “count”.
Never cared for “celebrity” of
what other people think of me.
If I found Cool the “props” lent ambiance in spectator’s eye.
Made a few smile, even less,
laugh, at the simple-silly---me.
Constructed some near-mansions for family---sold them…all!
Installed several swimming pools
for the “kids”---Yeah…and, me, too.
Lived “fine” Mother’s seasons
cherished each---again…and, yet once more.
Rode some mighty fine horseflesh,
I reckon that’s so; loved them, each.
Hopefully---gave away far much
more “Good”…than I accepted charity.
Fished and hunted and conserved witness-testimony of sacred Jesus!
Metaphoric-kissed the Blarney-stone---and, spread…way too
much.
Loved Nature and embraced her
ways and beauty and challenges.
Thanked me “Lucky-stars” and
heaven-life and Love of the Lord.
Learned early to humble-Pray and practiced oft the sacred honor.
Loved!
Lived! Laughed!
At the “folly” which is---simple-humble…me!
Sang my song, my way, hit most
notes and enjoyed the music-spaces.
Early found God, or, He found me;
I Thank Him for Redemption!
Searched Love! Sweet-kissed life! Embraced the morning cool dawn-dew.
Came home too many nights to
greet the new day sun---only, for…work!?
Wondered at some “torment”, never
mine, and---tried “Dear God!”…to salve the wound!
Petted some fine dogs, befriended
cats, respected all; came to love the equine-foal.
Served mass, took the seminarian’s
test---only…to meet that Protestant-girl.
Played fair. But hard; took chances-insane, it now seems; landed on me
feet.
Thank God every day for my poor
ole “Guardian”-angel man. Thank you!
Could-I? Would-I? Should-I? Do it all
again?---The same!...Forever more!
And---mostly…Loved!

Day 262
Bapa built a
balance beam for Z. Tyler and it was
kept in Bapa
& Nanny’s bedroom in Tennessee
We
moved from my beloved Oregon-country in the Great Northwest to Nashville, Tennessee,
when Z. Tyler was just four years old; I taught him to ride a two-wheel bike on
our driveway there on Groundhog Day. That boy showed developed natural-
“talent” at any endeavor.
We
enrolled him in “gymnastics” and he wanted a balance-beam at home to practice
on, so I built him one a foot high and ten feet long. Nanny and I had a “huge”
bedroom in that domicile and Beth and her family resided with us as she
completed Law School at Vanderbilt; that room was “just perfect” for the little
man’s gymnastic balance beam; we kept it there.
When
we returned to Illinois, that contraption accompanied us; somewhere it
disappeared.
Whatever
the “kids” wanted, I did my very best to oblige---Life…is for living! Amen!
Ah! Cookie Jar
Sweet “Careful! Boy! Careful!” Memories!
