Beth's Birthday celebration! plus: CJSM Day 76

Celebration! Yeah! Come-on!

Oh! Yeah! Baby! We had one elegant celebration on February 11, 2017 for Beth!

Renting a patio at the local bar-b-que establishment for the “special” occasion, we surprised her with a huge party under the covered venue. With all guests assembled, Z. Tyler, Lexi and Graig brought Lady Catherine to the eatery for lunch. Z. told her it was so nice out, 72 degrees in the middle of winter,  that they should eat on the patio to which Beth quickly acquiesced. Voile!

As they came through the door to the patio: Happy Birthday! Her expression is priceless!

We really kept it quiet and a total secret. And, what a party! Fun! Fun! Fun! Celebration!

Beth was elated and everyone had a fantastic time with good food, drinks and friends.

What a tremendous blessing this fine family has been to us. Thank you!

Ah! Cookie Jar “Happy Birthday! Surprise Celebration”! Sweet Memories!

Day 76

 1999 Trip to the Fatherland---

Germany-Austria-Switzerland

Well! Ole Carl finally transgressed the boundaries of his comfort zone---Europe!...Wow!

Youngest daughter, Rachel Rebecca, at age 21 loaded up a back pack larger than herself and set out for---Europe! Holy Moses! She paraded around home for a couple of months with that monstrosity on her slight back; it and the contents weighed more than she did. I often told her that if she fell over with it on, she would never regain her feet. But, she persevered and survived.

While on that hiatus, Becky managed to meet a German citizen through a mutual female acquaintance; he is now our son-in-law and they blessed us with Miss Lauren and Miss Anna.

Dandelions grow wild in ole Germany, plenty long, too; Graig dislikes the yellow “flowers” especially, so Becky picked him a full bouquet of the plentiful weeds. Ahh! Choo! Gesundheit!

Our trip turned out to be not only a celebration of Alex and Becky’s wedding day, but an extended vacation visiting several countries and getting in touch with our German roots, even adding France to our travel repertoire. The countries are much like our beloved Maeystown area; I was impressed and loved the education travel offers.

We even took a river cruise on the Rhine; a fantastic, enjoyable adventure delight.

It’s good to expand one’s horizons; teaches lessons and perspectives about one’s self.

Ah! Cookie Jar Sweet “Foreign” Memories!
