Day 44
The girls either
went to church with Mom,
or Dad picked
them up after Sunday
School to go to
Grandma Margie’s
Nanny
made sure the girls got a good religious foundation; “Heathen” Dad managed to
come to the rescue (so to speak) picking up the girls for a Sunday visit to his
Mom’s house.
I
had determined, after eighteen years of parochial education, that “religion”
had little, if anything, to church. The day I left for college, I went to mass
with my mom; it was thirty-eight years before I shadowed any church door, after
that day, save the occasional funeral, marriage, baptism. The 1962 “Vatican II
Encyclical” concluding the “liberalization” and “ruination” of the denomination.
Think I “over-reacted”? Hmm! Well! Maybe? But, I doubt it; based on the facts.
In
1962 the U. S. population totaled about 230 million people; the Catholic Church
sported a 95 million membership. In 2017, the U.S. population is around 325
million population; that “Great” church institution, through its “brilliant”
modernization to the “liberal” slant has brought them to a conclusion of 65 million people. These are the facts,
whether they like it or not.
The
contrary argument is that the “Church” has a million more members in third world
countries! Wow! Three billion more people and “they” managed to indoctrinate 1
million while losing 30 million! These geniuses ought to be working for the
government.
Hell!
Maybe they are! In 7 decades, I have never
seen any positive outcome born of a lie!
“Fool
me once, shame on you; fool me twice, shame on “me”!
I
instilled moral values leaning toward virtue, I pray, by example, in my
children and demand “Quality” within my own life; right and wrong, good and
evil, black and white do exist; people know the difference. It is their choice!
Each will be judged according to his works and deeds. If we are really lucky,
just maybe, our true intent might
mitigate our trespasses. Amen!?
I
attend mass regularly and have for about five years, now. We searched for as
many years looking for “religion” in a church, both official denominational
sects and the non-denominational. Finding a traditional “Latin mass” rekindled
my childhood love for reverence and
respect for God. In my humble opinion, the once Great Catholic Church is on the
verge of another Great Scism like the one which sparked the Protestant
Revolution at the hands of Martin Luther. We’ll see.
So?
My girls and their children turned out real good---living rewarding lives…Quality people.
“Religion”
seems to be less a membership in a “cult” than in a practice of Christian
generosity. Again, a personal opinion; but, one based in experience with
open-minded discernment. I am responsible for “me”; I’ll make my choices and
live, and die, with the consequences/ That sounds like “justice” to me. If I am
wrong, it ain’t the first time!
In
conclusion:
Live!
Love! Laugh!
Focus contemplate!
Vigilant be! No
one’s future is ever late!
And,
Faith!
Family! Freedom! Might
just be all there really---Is!
In one eternal
instant the only mercy-blessing will be…His!
Amen!
