Day 36
Lauren
Victoria---July 2, 2001
One
of the very best blessings of my life! Such a Perfect! Gift! Our second grandchild!
Lauren
Victoria quickly became L.V. which I shortened to “Luvy”; I held her on my lap
for myriad hours of total enjoyment and, I swear, did not spoil her any more than I did Z. Tyler.
One
of the funniest stories of my “corruption” of lovely “little Professor” Lauren
was that I taught her to “cough” on cue. I’d pronounce, “Oh! That's a bad
cough” to which my little Princess would react with a fake “Cough! Cough!” and
all the “adults” would also laugh. I still don’t know if they were amused by
our delightful little “ham”, or, if they were belittling---me!
We
accompanied Becky on one of Lauren’s visits to her pediatrician, a very
“professional”-type with little tolerance for “adult” frivolity. He had
examined our girl and turned his back to make some notations on her record when
I said to Lauren, age one, “Oh! That’s a bad cough!”. To this subtle
encouragement she politely “coughed” her double “hacking” routine.
Without
turning around, the good doctor concluded, “Gee! That is a bad cough!” Seemed
he had missed something in the exam. I laughed at our “little” joke; Becky found
the two “kids” un-amusing and Candy embarrassingly told the physician her
“little” boy’s prank. He “growled”!
Such
a “Young Lady” my Luvy has become; all grown up with intelligence, beauty,
personality, compassion, generosity, a loving heart and a free spirit. She
rides like the wind and, if I could only figure a way to saddle that wind,
she’d ride it to a standstill! That’s the truth!
Lauren
is an exemplar daughter, a refined “Young Lady”, the perfect sister to Anna
Marie and surrogate sister to our “Lexli-Lu” which is what Miss Lauren called
Lexi. She adores our Adonis-handsome Z. Tyler, her cousin and brother to Lexi,
her senior by fourteen years!
It
is quite the clan which I find myself
attached to; I am very proud of each of them and love these fine
people-of-quality more than life itself! Why I am so exceedingly blessed, I
will never understand, but, you can bet your life, I am not complaining---just
reveling in the good fortune!
For
readers who have not been privileged to know these young people, I plan to
publish a book celebrating each of them with stories and poems written for
their birthdays and events. I pray only that I have enough talent to tell the
tale with loving accuracy displaying my emotion.
I love you! Miss
Lauren Victoria! My perfect blessing!
Ah! Cookie Jar “Sweet-Sweet” Memories!
Amen!
