Day 39
“Little girls
are to be seen, not heard” was
Candy &
Carl’s favorite saying---until…
The “three”
little girls came along!
Now,
I’ll confess, I do not recall this admonition to a “supposed” admonition, but,
I will be “seventy” years young, tomorrow, Oh1 God! so, maybe the “old” memory
is slipping!? A bit?
I
tried to always treat our children as equals, discussing current event subjects
and life events openly, offering advice and encouraging their thoughts and
input on the various issues. Nanny concurs that we did constrict their
“conclusions” occasionally, even offering our youngest, Rachel, a quarter if
she could be quiet for a twenty minute ride which she managed to do. Ah! Money
can be a focused motivator.
I
guess it’s only natural that “I” would not “lord” any perceived authority over
my wards; Hell! I’m barely qualified to be out in public without a keeper, my
own self. I issue no fiats!
“One
for all and all for one!” Worked for The Three Stooges; good enough for me and
mine!
Faith! Family!
Freedom!
Waves proud unfurled on a golden gonfalon declaring my mantra.
Such
is not just a trinity of meaningless words-for-show; it is a declaration
“way-of-life”.
It
would be patently unfair to “hot dog” a copped attitude, even toward children;
I do not!
I
love my progeny equally; I can only pray that they know that, It is, in fact,
the truth!
So,
we begin a New Year, 2017, and I promise “M-O-S-“ (more of the same-for
everybody!).
Ah! (Join me) Cookie Jar Sweet Memories!
