A "Life" secret

Secret: Learn from your mistakes

Oh! Boy! Confession time.

Yesterday, I posted a tribute to my dear grandson,
Zachariah Tyler Evans, for his 28th birthday.

So proud of him and his special celebration, I had been
planning all week for that tribute. Sitting at the breakfast
table with lovely Lady Candice Leah, I told her that I had
already had quite the day. Went to McDonald's and got
breakfast fare for both grandmas, brother John, each of us
and had made the deliveries and gone to the local IGA for a
box of donuts for the Baur family who had just returned from
an extended vacation in Germany. And, proudly, I boasted
that I had posted Z.T.'s birthday wish on my blog.

Oh! she is so kind. Very quietly she announces, absent accusation:
Z's birthday isn't until next Friday!

Wow! She's right! I missed it by a full week! Brother!

Immediately, I wrote Z an apology; he graciously played down
my obvious stupidity, had even already texted his mom to go
check on me, said he didn't want to say anything for fear of
hurting my feelings or embarrassing me. What a man!

Well! At least, my intention was Good!
My purpose and timing well off the mark.

The message? Two things happen when you get old:
1) Your memory goes;
and,
b) ----------------------!

Uh! I guess I forgot..."b"!

Anyway, I proudly proclaim that the process is not wasted:
I learn from my mistakes!

Oh God! With my record, I ought to be as smart as:
Charles Krauthammer!

And, the only other redemption to saving face:
Never admit to the stupidity!

Seems Charles shall remain the smartest man on the planet.

So, what will I post next Friday, July 24th, Z.T."s birthday?
Wait and see. Even I don't know!

Thanks to all for your kind understanding.

Just let me finally end with a kind thought of my own
to redeem some modicum of dignity:

Umm!---Let's see, now...

Oh! Yeah! I got it---
it'll be 104 today, so I'll just dither

Merry Christmas! (duh!)
