Day 300
Brownie, Whitey
and Red---
Did Dad come up
with these creative names?
We
always managed to have a plethora of critters on the farm.
Dogs
& cats. Cattle, horses, chickens, ducks, one turkey named Tilly and cats.
And, the real wild animals: fox,
coyote, deer, rabbit, squirrel, quail, field mice, opossum, raccoon and more.
My
Mother gave me an “inheritance” I had not counted on: 3-barn felines: Brownie, White
& Red! I “accepted” the gift only
on condition that they would live in the barn. Deal---sealed.
So,
the city-turned-country “mousers” took up residence at the old farmstead. They
thrived.
These
“guard”-felines did a fine job and the girls got three more pets. Everybody was
happy.
I
do not recall who designated the
names, might have been the cats’ color, Hmm!?
My
intellectual-level, or lack thereof, might point an accusing finger at me for simplicity!?
Ah! Cookie Jar Sweet “Meow!” Memories!
