50 States of Youth-attitude & Day 298 CJSM-book IV

Prologue

In the soft-stillness of a child’s bedroom a mother
prays her progeny’s holy-nighttime sacred-psalm---
“Amen!” she whispers…followed by a reverent echo.

“Prayer comforts a pure heart.” Mommy allows.
“Music soars a spirit-wild.” Compliments the child.
Love! Sings our psalm!” Concludes the Mother.

Stroking soft silky-strands, “Mommy” comforts
her child upon a bosom-tender as she silent-prays
Thanksgiving for the blessing and dares selfish-hope
for God’s protection and a satiating ‘happy”-life.

When, at last, the tiny head lays heavy, she slips a
thin arm away, gently kisses the soft cheek laying
soft hand upon the forehead-cool, smiling tenderly.

“Good night! My child! Pleasant dreams!
---Happy life!...One day, true Love! Amen!”

And---of innocence is born…Oh! Sacred-Truth!

Day 298

Beth & Becky bake their first turkey,
but only after stuffing it

Our ambitious “country” girls let their “city”-sophistication slip and show at Thanksgiving.
The kids surprised Mom & Dad with a 25th Wedding Anniversary gift of a trip to the Bahamas; we enjoyed the respite immensely, sitting around talking about the kids and Z. Tyler.
We lived near Nashville, then, having returned from the Great Northwest (where I left my heart---sort of); Becky was at Eastern Illinois University; we would not see her for the holiday.
Surprise! The girls got together, unbeknownst to us (Hmm!?) and brought Rachel home from the college to surprise us for Thanksgiving when we returned from the islands.
We de-boarded the plane and stepped into the concourse; Z. Tyler came running up to greet us; there stood Beth and Graig who stood motionless, just staring at us as if expecting something.
They seemed to be looking further behind us; finally, we turned around. Surprise! Becky!
Well! They sure enough got one over on us---Hmm!?...I reckon that’s true enough!?
The siblings had Thanksgiving dinner prepared for us when we got home. Delicious!
The “darlings” had skinned the turkey and stuffed it before baking the bird; the stuffing protocol turned out to be okay; the skinning caused the bird to dry out---just… a little.
It didn’t matter; we enjoyed a feast including all the trimmings and had a fabulous holiday celebration with our re-united family for the Thanksgiving Day celebration!
And---the vacation to the islands was…Perfect! Too!

Ah! Cookie Jar Sweet “You sure surprised us!?” Memories!
