Day 192

Bapa to Lauren---“Bad cough”…and Lauren would cough

My “game-playing” immature-irreverence can sometimes lead to “bad” results!
Imagine that---an unrestrained “adult” with a kid’s mind…well, you get the picture.
Still, my goal is a “fun”-time, an event, an adventure. Silly? Perhaps! I am easily entertained/
 Z. Tyler came as our blessing when I turned age 40! I was absolutely delighted. We are very good friends to this late date and he was my “shadow-buddy” for 16 years. We had us a time and some very great adventures. Nanny taught him to hit a ball and catch; I taught him golf.
When our darling Lauren Victoria came along, I taught her that when I said “Bad cough!” she would sound a faux “Cough! Cough!”; not bad for a baby less than a year old.
Well! Sure enough, that insignificant little ditty became great fun for the two of us, probably to annoyance of the “real” adults saddled with two children; but, they never complained. Almost!
Nanny and I accompanied Miss Lauren to the pediatrician one day with her Mom, Becky.
Dr. Lonsway praised our little Darling for her maturity, growing and “great” health as the three of us beamed proudly of the “innocent” child.
Then, having finished his examination, the good doctor turned to his desk to write some notes in his file for Miss Lauren, As he turned, I whispered to Lauren, “Bad cough!”
Dutifully, the tiny-tock responded with a loud, “Cough! Cough!”
Doctor Lonsway spun around with an astonished look on his face saying, “MY! That is a bad cough!” I laughed and Lauren looked perplexed as the adults in the room, other than the doctor, quickly and with much embarrassment tried to lamely explain that she did not have a “real” cough; just a Pavlov’s-dog reaction to her immature “Grandpa’s” weird sense-of-humor!

So!? What would life be---save…simple humor!?

Ah! Cookie Jar Sweet “Cough! Cough!” Memories!
