Day 191
Dad/Bapa peels
an orange and keeps
the peeling in
one long piece
Seems my little “darlings” too quickly grew up
and I never did; Life is still a
fun-game.
Then, left alone to my own devices, a very
dangerous turn of events, the girls blessed us with that great treasure of
family---Grandkids! Oh! Yeah!
Celebrate! And, the very good
news---by then I had evolved into a totally “uninhibited” middle-aged kid!
Yippee!
And,
now, pernicious-history repeats itself---the grandkids grew up…and, I didn’t.
Again!
I just can never accept the status quo; who
said such dribble is “right” or the
only way? Not me! I make a game of everything. For example, and this is a secret
only Lady Candice knows until now, when I walk on paved concrete which is
scored with seams like sidewalk and parking lots, in each little segment
bordered by the design, I take one (1) step in one block advancing to the next
where I take two (2) steps and then three and four and to my goal of five (5);
then, I start over with one (1). Just a silly entertainment to occupy my time
so as not to waste any second.
Try it! Not so simple as you might think as
the configurations of design are random and this makes keeping the
counting-rhythm most difficult. Don’t cheat! (Yeah! Reckon I am a Loon!)
And, so it came to pass that I evolved another
inane (or, is that insane?) pastime
while peeling an orange in effort to eat it. If one is careful and diligent,
the peeling can be kept in one long, unbroken piece. With a round to and
smaller round bottom, the remnant can be laid out vertically and it looks just
like a flower. Tangerines work well, too. Lady Candice has received many such
bouquets over the years. (oft, I wonder: How does she tolerate my immaturity?)
Think it is---easy? Give it a try…I “double-dog” dare
you!
Ah! Cookie Jar Sweet “orange-peel-flower” Memories!
