Day 178
Watching
“Petticoat Junction”, “Green Acres”.
“Hogan’s
Heroes”, “Gomer Pyle”, “Gunsmoke”,
“Andy Griffith”
& “Hawaii Five-0”
(the Evans’
watch the new Five-o every week)
We
watched a lot of television, mostly at night, after the day’s adventure had
ended.
When
I was a kid, 6 or 7, the “rich” neighbors had a T.V. and let me come over to
watch it.
I
reckon “poor” people couldn’t afford television; we couldn’t. Wasn’t much on,
anyway. Three channels, a few black and white programs and some news, sports
and weather. Good!
Later,
we somehow got our own television and a couple of more channels. Wow!
When
our kids came along, we had plenty of channels, movies to rent for the VCR and
later, cable, satellite and so much more. We now have about 80
channels---and…nothing to watch!
Those
50’s, 60’s and 70’s programs really were worth watching teaching morals and
ethics.
They
reached “worthy” status by virtue of their “values’ and “virtue”-lessons. I
enjoyed them.
And---today?...they
“re”-make the oldie flicks and they are never even close to good.
Sometimes
I lament “the old days” absence. But,
I travel on---always…forward.
Ah! Cookie Jar Sweet “the good old days”
Memories!
