Lamented Tear
What a day!
It’s---Friday!
Once a week,
every seven days, my favorite day!
Travelled to
“Captain ‘D’s’” for lunch-fare today
as I meet my
Miss Candy-girl each noon at the library;
“Nah!” You’re
right! I still can’t read! But, I do eat.
“Flying” back to
town on the local Interstate in
My silver
chariot earthbound with four wheels,
the ole radio
cranked itself to beyond “Blaring”
as the country
crooners bellowed sad songs to
my waiting ears
as I wailed “off-key” mis-placed
words in a
fantasy “performance” just like a real
opry-“star”
mesmerizing the myriad fawning-fans.
Boy! Traffic I
passed had a good laugh at my gyrations.
Hell! I was
having the “time-of-my-life”---today…again!
Home, after my
rendezvous with Sweet Lady Candice Leah,
while sporting a
full belly and still humming the country-rock
echoing in my
feeble mind, I tuned the ole house radio to the
local
“Hillbilly” numbers and cranked her up---all the way!
Remebrances of
“Nashville-times” filtered into my mind
obfuscating,
even more, my poor recollection of
the proper
words meant to
mesh with the honkey-tonk melodies; sure
enough,
picture-memories of my late Uncle Randell surfaced.
A lamented tear
threatened, then, faded into a loving smile.
I once
complimented him saying that Memphis might have
legal claim and
right to Elvis, but, I knew the “Nashville-kid”!
So, in honored
memory, I dedicated the very next tune to
the memory of my
Uncle Randell; I even knew the words---
sort of…I expect
he forgave any “slight” imperfections.
Greatness!
Never
dies! It lives---like…Love!
Should my
tomorrow dawn? Let the good times roll!
On and on!
Wild times! Always! Amen!
