Careful what you wish for...

Charlene’s-man Ole Hunter-Jack!
(“Careful-what-you-wish-for…” a Country comin’-back song)
“Careful just what you wish-for…” Excellent sage-advice
Evil-odds are 36-to-1 when you roll those fickle love-dice

“Beauty” was his childhood-sweetheart, she held a roving-eye
Trouble-dated through-high school, he promised her the-sky

Did well-enough: big-house, fine-clothes, a swimming-pool for Charlene
She loved social-party circuit-game wild-flirting with any player-team

Ole Billy-Bob like simple beer & pretzel Good-ole-boy! humble-fare
Charlene-danced “caviar-champagne” for “rich”-men to loving-care

Two-children blessed the marriage-union, Billy-Bob adored the pair
Mom-Charlene easy-chose to often-party, No!”-time she had to share

“Careful just what you wish-for…” Excellent sage-advice
Evil-odds are 36-to-1 when you roll those fickle love-dice

Billy devoted his life time-and-space to the caring of his-progeny
His best-friend, ole Hunter-Jack, practiced a rather-horrid propensity

Handsome-Jack easy-caught the roaming-eye of Party-girl Charlene
She and Hunter surreptitious “carried-on” behind a pleasant faux-scene

Whenever devoted Billy-Bob couldn’t baby-comfort his demanding-wife
Handsome-Hunter Jack appeared like the ole “Pied-Piper-with-his-fife!”

Charlene took leave to visit a sick-old distant-aunt living miles-away
Handsome-Jack took her on holiday for a-week of sordid fun-and-play

“Careful just what you wish-for…” Excellent sage-advice
Evil-odds are 36-to-1 when you roll those fickle love-dice

One thing led to another, town-gossip, evil-pernicious suspicion
Billy Bob finally got-wise ending in an ugly-divorce commission

Years-later he saw his-“ex” and Jack, she had gained a hundred, or-so
Billy Bob ignored Jack’s wave, looked-away, pretended not to-know

The incident made Billy Bob feel really bad-and-sad---he still liked…Jack!
But, friendship ain’t everything---Hell!...Jack might try to bring her-back!

“Careful just what you wish-for…” Excellent sage-advice
Evil-odds are 36-to-1 when you roll those fickle love-dice

Amen!
