Law!?---Me!?...Ha!?

 

"My"-will be done!

 

"She should-a stopped!"

"You" had the stop-sign!

 

"I was in the 'right'! Always!"

"Yup! 'You' are never wrong!"

 

"She's a _____! He's a _____!"

"You ought-s know---takes-one to....know-one!"

 

"They'll do 'what' I say---or...else! Hell!"

"I'd pray for you---but...pretty-sure you'd cuss-me!"

"Hey! The rules (and, laws) just do not apply to Me!"
"Yeah!---I know you!...'Our-Father..."My"-will be done!'"

 

Will "it" ever-end?---If..."I" have any say in the conclusion! Yes!

 

 

The-neighborhood!---Hmm!?...Gee!?

 

A rash of nighttime attacks on "senior"-citizens had the neighborhood

terrorized to the point of near-immobility; no victim ever saw anything!

 

Courage does not come in a bottle---or a gun...only...in virtuous-character!

 

The "good" citizens, even those not yet physically victimized, cowered

in the shadow-of-anonymity, "protecting" themselves from trouble.

 

The crime-scene yellow-tape held on-lookers at bay: We don't want the

"stupid"-untrained public-at-large contaminating our investigation-area.

 

A viewer in the far background wearing a hooded-sweatshirt under a

medium-grey sweater ghosted behind the yellow-line. EMT's helped

the latest victim onto a gurney to be loaded into an ambulance-conveyance

for a trip to the hospital. The detective asked the injured-party repeatedly

if they knew their assailant. "It was dark! I don't know! Leave me alone!"

 

Everybody knew who the perpetrator was by sight, reputation and name.

 

For the cops---another-unsolved...assault! Nothing they could-do!

 

An anonymous 911-call the next morning at 10 a.m. called the authorities

to an apartment familiar to the cops; "shots-fired" went-out. Surprise!

 

The police found the "victim" in a dark-red pool of his own blood. Dead!

On the premises the cops recovered myriad stolen-evidence. Good-job!

No-witnesses!---Nobody saw anything!...Just...Perfect!

 

The "collective"-weakness of the "victim"-citizens remained in full-view;

that "character"-flaw did not keep them from a cursory-celebration of justice!

 

Well!---until...next-time!? (And---there surely...will-be! Guaranteed!)

 

Unless---?

 

Where we gonna ever find a real-man?---"Always!"...I sincerely-pray!
