Good-Friday!-thoughts
On the 3rd-hour Jesus cried out in a lost voice:
My God! My God! Why hast Thou forsaken me?
Beaten! Battered! Scourged! Crowned with thorns!
With a final breath He whispered:
It is done!---and...gave up the spirit!
Taking His dead body from the cross, they laid the remains
in a borrowed-tomb rolling a huge stone into the entrance.
Heaven's-fury opened with a torrential storm-of-anger
for what mankind had done to the sacred Son-of-God!
When all seems lost---Salvation!...may be as close as 3-days!
And, sure-enough!---Upon the Easter dawn-to-come...Salvation!
Amen!
And, as I rested on this "Good"-Friday feast, a jet plane
fractured my respite with its powerful-thrust eruption.
Several-minutes later a second plane violated my restful-state.
Different in intensity from the first, this one growled-deeply.
Into my attentive-mind creeped long-ago lyrics:
I'm leaving on a jet plane, don't know when I'll be back-again...
From that plane-incident evolved the Good-Friday story.
No!---I am not leaving on a jet-plane...Travel is behind me!
Been here and there---a time or two...kissed yon mountain, embraced the sea.
Jesus traveled less than 200-miles in His time and space.
I pray that I have "walked" as many-miles in my time.
I left some dusty-tracks---Reckon-so!...Pray I did some-"Good", some where.
And---on the 'morrow...we shall celebrate the Easter-resurrection!
Amen!
