Lord! Sustain my Faith!
Seven
decades---very soon…I have already come
“Peace on the
earth! Good will to men!” I silent hum
Many a Christmas
night sitting frigid on the bed-edge
Happy for
myself; yet, sad for many, I wet-tears shed
My perfect: Faith! Family! Freedom! Gonfalon mantra
unfurled
For disappointed
urchins, my tumbled emotions erratic-swirled
Through a
department store I marched down treasure-aisles
In me grand-time
as Santa Claus, how many purposed-miles?
An ocean-full of
“goodie”-shelves, only for a vacant price
A dolly for a
girl, a boy desires a ball; a simple wish life-slice
Mom can’t afford
Santa-gifts, needs staples for a Spartan table
Dad’s short of
cash, again, but spins an entertaining faux-fable
In ’31, Grandma
allowed, my dad, 7, got a single orange-gift, cost 3-cents
Never told the
tale nor lamented; dad and mom sacrificed for our presents
Santa Claus is
like that: selfless-generosity, charity for all others
Love! Is the
Christmas-theme! Sisters! Brothers! Dads! & Mothers!
Never knew a
vacant missing, any odd-sent Christmas Eve
Always, like a
king I lived; much better “give” than to receive
In that midnight
black-cold Praise! Honor! Glory!
Thankful prayed
A tear for
myriad less-fortunates; for Michael-boy and Bobby-stayed
And, so, to
celebrate His birth, a promise from an undeserving sinner
With kind words,
at least, I’ll smile and lift each one a worthy-winner
Perhaps? I
cannot alone save any piece of a wicked-world transgressed
Lord! Sustain my
Faith! With strength to honest-try as
true-confessed
That I might
humble accept a simple tribute-orange honor-pride
Touch-soft the
trembling horde, for them my Loving-heart
abide
Fulfill my
prayer to accept His “will” with
humble-dimple gratitude
Peace! For mankind! With
a refining perspicacious attitude Amen!
Merry Christmas! 2016
