Vagabond-lament?
I’m just sitting
here watching a yellow sun traverse by
Yesterday,
clouds bumped into it letting raindrops fly
Flown away today
leaving a crystal-blue cerulean sky
A pretty girl
brought me home giving her mom a scare
Her daughter’s ample
love with me she did already share
Sweet beauty and
vacant-I together, a knotted legal pair
High upon yon
mountain heeded wraithlike whisper-wind
Beyond
distant-vast stars above restless-will wild-spirit send
Can’t wish a
copper penny to gold; errant ways cannot amend
Trek low down to
the valley floor, new adventure seeking
Cabin-warm by
river-cold a long winter comfort speaking
Spring alabaster
pale full moon stirs stardust-wander beacon
A tumbleweed
can’t settle down; might require some kind-a plan
Blood be thick,
’tis true, yet I think me kin will kindly understand
Rebel, rascal,
rogue; confessed bum; practice, good at it, I proudly am
If you want
roots, then plant a tree, water it with loving care
Embrace solace
on bucolic emerald-meadow foal and mare
Respect nature,
hug a child, kiss diamond star; Love!
declare
Once, or twice,
I had a nickel, maybe? Even, a single dollar
When any trail
forks---I’ll take it…satiated just to “foller”
When wild ducks
or geese “V”-migrate, “Fowl!” I’ll
holler
Silk suit?
Coordinated shirt? Tie? Jesus! I’ll---choke!
Rather ride the
river with a “Plain-truth” old cow-poke
Money enough for
fancy duds? There be a funny joke!
So? Vagabond?
From here to where, I sometimes wonder
Look! Lightning
bolt! Quiet! Listen for awesome thunder!
Me grave be easy
found: Dandelions pushed up from under
Might be I’ll
never amount to much, guess I didn’t even try
You’ll probably
only see me smile; I forgot just how to cry
Should I
confess-transgress “regret”? There surely be a lie!
Amen!
