Morning
Prayer
My
comfort-friend awakened with the new born dawn
Subtle-soft
as crystal dew upon yonder emerald lawn
Orange-yellow
orb horizon ascend Cerulean pure
Warm
comfort pierce slumber glass, repose endure
Reluctant
vacate fantasy-tender, force open eyes
Risen
rays visit lazy bones on whom it slyly spies
“Good
morning! Lord!” Greets my humble first prayer today
Lament
lethargic responsibility; for redemption now I pray
Your
risen sun already hard at work perfecting Thy offered gift
Make
the bed, shower, shave; prepare to face any challenge rift
Allow
this lowly wretched sinner offer each effort a prayer, still
Please
humble me: Praise! Honor! Glory! Be done, Thy sacred will
Within
each simple life response let me in purpose contemplate
Mundane
or effort-ed event in Jesus’ image reverently to emulate
Through
morning cool to high noon lunch onto warm afternoon
For
supper (dinner on the coasts) to quiet dusk now come too soon
Blue-white
diamonds pierce black evening abyss shared with loving friends
“Now
I lay me down---if should I die…”Your white-winged holy angels send
And,
in Your night while life-giving sunshine in earnest reposes
Bless
once more my nightly dreams like fragrant-sweet red roses
And,
now, dear Lord, before my rest, satiate this need for Thy “good”
Not
unto me, but that I have for it today right proudly mark-ed stood
Should
Thy will fail I observe the ’morrow dawn, please absolve this soul sin-stained
Let
this tired body rest, free wild spirit to yet soar redeemed celestial heaven
gained
From
Your Glory! Peace on earth! Good will in men!
To
Thy Praise! From where came I to now have been
In
Thy Honor! Legacy written here into the future then
Faith!
Family! Freedom! Might just be all there really---is!
In
one eternal instant, the only mercy blessing will be…His!
Amen!
