Wonder-Gourmet
“Secret”
“I wonder what her Secret is…” Just: Lucky! Perhaps? In a mis-understood context.
On myriad occasions too numerous to
enumerate I have listened to that envious lament. It’s only a natural reaction
to one’s “good” fortune as perceived by another.
The answer to such query is---Simple!
And, that fortuitous discovery leads to
a conclusion derived with an investigation of man’s principle motivational
directives: Intent and Purpose. Neither directly answers
the enigma, but, rather, leads precisely to the Truth that is at the very
heart of the matter. Confused? Read on…
Some people just seem to have a knack for certain endeavors which bring
satisfaction, both to the Do-er and
the observer-recipient. Sports! Faith! Family! Life! Laughter! Love! Cooking!
And, obviously, many more. Let’s take a gander at Cooking; the paradigm also fits various other opportunities though
slight adjustments might be necessary to accommodate the conclusion.
Several “gourmet” cooks have satiated my
hunger through delightful dining compliments. Among these “professionals”, my
Granny, her daughter, my mom, Candy’s saintly grandmother, Lady Rose, lovely
Candice Leah and her daughters, Catherine and Rachel Rebecca. Each could, and,
often, did, take mere handsful of sparsely available ingredients and easily
whip up culinary “Royalty”. I know precious little about preparation, but, I
can dine with the best connoisseurs. I do know Good! when I taste it. ’Mmm! ’Mmm! “Uncle” Craig and Aunt” Angie’s
bar-b-q also qualifies as does Aunt Ardel’s multi-layered wedding cakes
perfectly baked in a wood-fire stove-oven. Presentation enhances the entirety
of the dining experience as well as does the manner of delightful preparation.
That Secret ingredient becomes
integral to the successful conclusion.
Grandma Rose’s daughter, Kay, commented
that her dear mother could take the least of kitchen rudiments, add a pinch of
this and a smidgeon of that---and…Voila!
Dinner is served. Delicious in both presentation and dining enjoyment.
A simple achievement of Intent and Purpose.
So? What is that Secret ingredient common
to these “gourmet” chefs?
None follow recipes verbatim, rather,
“eyeing” ingredients, tasting by mind and tongue.
And? That Secret? The easiest to
acquire, best to give away, simplest to incorporate: Love!
Un-conditional Love! Un-equivocal Love!
Un-pretentious Love! Simple! Humble!
Real!
The intent: Love! The purpose: Love!
The proof, as they say, is in the pudding: Delicious!
That desirable result of any such
offering: Respect! And, Honor!
Love’s double conclusion; doubled again
from chef to diner---reciprocal!
No complicated, convoluted recipe
needed. Just---Love! Laced with Humble simplicity!
Bon
appetit!
