The-Elm
and The-Oak
Spring!
- - - Ahh!...winter-s-end! Warming!
Showers! Ahh!
The
blue-gill red-ear –spawn! Oh! And, wild-Morels!
Over
7+ decades, outside of sleep-time, I tend
to-spend
about half of waking-hours out-of-doors!
The
Independent-Individual enjoys
“private”-time! Ahh!
In
late-April, at the far south-end of our-farm, I spied a huge
elm-tree
shed of-bark and bleached-white like a medical
school
laboratory-human-skeleton; large strips of bark
littered the dead leaf covered forest-floor;
spread among
the
tree’s previous shell-covering - - - 32 yellow morels … Voila!
Sure-enough!
Reckon-so! It’s like winning a “big”-lottery;
it
really is a-lot of-fun - - -when…you-WIN! Amen!
Next
to the dead-elm sprouting Morel-fungi stood
a
huge
white-oak, the trunk about a 3’-diameter! Ten-feet
away
was a small, 15’ oak from one of the monster’s-acorns.
One-day,
long after my own-demise, the ancient-oak will fall
to the-eons of the-seasons and the-”sprout”
will reign-supreme!
I
sure do-enjoy Morels…and Spring!
Amen!
