Desert-sands!
Some
claim to-find a-“beauty” in some-desert view; I might consider
“interesting”
tending toward a “kind-of-beauty” in the sand. Hmm!
“Hot!” in day-time under a scorching-sun!
“Cold!” at-night!
Seems
“nothing” can ever-be “in-moderation”? So-be-it!
Alkali-flats
stretch-wide across the flat-plain. In some-distance,
mountains,
of-a-sort, grey-black devoid of cool-white snow. Along
the
bottom of the cliffs where the desert floor meets the up-thrust,
a
scattering of boulders dislodged over time and weather litter the-
landscape.
Deep-crevices scar the escarpment-face with nature-cut
verticle-“gulleys”;
at the bottom of these anomalies are piled mounds
of
sand loosened and then washed-down from the higher-elevations.
Indians
knew some-“draws” to be of-value as holding-water; not
every
crevasse held the life-giving liquid, but, a-few surely-do!
Under
the myriad grains-of-sand another layer-of-value is contained
at
the bottom of the hidden-reservoir---Yellow-luster…Gold! Hmm!
Seldom
in nugget-form, mostly fine-powder gold; still of-worth!
Native-Americans
knew nothing of “any” supposed-value
in the soft-
yellow
dust; ignored-it; found-strange the “white”-eyes lust for-it.
“No-purchase-necessary”! To an-Indian!
Nature provided-all! Simple!
Indian-braves
hunted and fished, sat around the warm-campfire telling
“Big”-lies of great-exploits while squaws
did all-of-the-“work”! Hmm!?
Then---“White-y”
came-along---and…civilized(?)
the-savages!? Damn!
Amen!
