Dancing-diamonds!
Some early-memories image
a row-boat on Fox Lake with Dad
manning the oars and a
taw-head boy of “6” sitting on the bow-seat
holding a cane-pole
baited with a live-minnow, eyes intent on the
red-and-white bobbing-cork
waiting for the old-crappie to bite.
Warm-sun on the lad’s
dark-blue jacket invited a nap which the child
managed to
fight-off---this was serious “man”-business…fishing!
Mom’s delicious bar-b-que
lunch had made the boy somewhat-sleepy, but
he refused to
succumb---not wanting to disappoint, besides…this was “fun”!
Mother-Nature tapped-at
the youngster’s imagination as he became entranced
with “dancing-diamonds” as golden sun-light
sparkled myriad wave-crests.
Amen!
