Happy St. Patrick’s Day!
Top
’o the mornin’ to ye! Lads & Lasses!
(And---the rest
of the day to…myself!)
Amen!
Just a wee bit
of---Irish-humor?...3-Stooges-type!
But, what a
glorious day---to just live…to
celebrate Life!
I ventured a
visit to me Mom and me Brother-John this
fine morn to
satiate my “mental” alter-ego demented---
(Me ole Santa Claus fixation-disorder)…Yeah! I’m
him!?
I delivered Mom
a favorite dark-chocolate bar and a
dozen
chocolate-covered marshmallow eggs; Easter-
treats, to be
sure, but, she enjoys them and it gives
simple-humble me
a chance to practice Christian-charity.
Amen!
Come join our St. Patrick’s-celebration!
Mom was all
excited over the local “rag” published
bi-weekly by
friend-Ed-itor, founder of the paper,
The
Monroe County Independent. Entertaining!
Mom summarized
the paper’s contents: State Bank-celebrates
a century-old
tradition; a story on trees; etc.
I opined how
happy I was that she appreciated nature and
trees and
inquired if she knew how many I had planted.
From outside we
heard tiny voices shouting “Happy St. Patrick’s Day!”
At the window
overlooking good ole Main Street,
we observed a
Day-care group of a dozen tiny tots
standing on the
opposite-side walk yelling and
waving to
passing cars in celebratory Green-greetings!
Most Young-at-heart driver’s honked joining
the reverie.
So?---The old
man (with a Santa-issue)…just had to
join in!
Out the door to
the teacher on my side of the street busily
Snapping photos
of her wards across the thoroughfare
Still attended
by a second teacher coaxing the youngsters
In a cheer-leading cacophony espousing the
event with
shouts of Happy St. Patrick’s Day ro sounding
horns.
I approached the
photographer-lady and asked if I might
cross-over to
join her wards and get in the picture. Yes!
Coming up to the
child-wrangler across the street,
I inquired if I
might join them---if…they’d have me?
Of course, the
kids loved the antics---especially…the biggest one!
The teacher was
laughing at the “show” (probably wondering
whether or not
to dial 911)---so, I said to her (with a smile)…
“Whatever you
are drinking; keep it up!”
Quick as a whit,
she replied, laughing heartily,
“Parents say that to me all the time! And, I don’t drink!”
“Parents say that to me all the time! And, I don’t drink!”
“Me! Too!” I
replied in honesty.
Reluctantly, I,
at last, thanked my “audience”, said “Good-bye!”
re-crossed Main
Street to me chariot. As I pulled away
the kids cheered
and waved as I tooted my horn.
Bravo!
I an NOT
concerned about what I might do to top this
celebrated
event---tomorrow!...I still have all afternoon!
Happy St. Patrick’s Day!
St. Patrick’s Day (Santa-kid)!?
(a loving Green-limerick)
Under the
emerald-shamrock lonesome Santa sat
Lamenting the date wearing his red and white hat
When out on the
street arose such a clatter and cheer
Celebrating
urchins calling Happy St. Patrick’s Day-near
Salvation! He yelled. Today! I’ll simply play ole St. Pat!
Amen!
(Answer to the
query---How many trees?...10,000+! Proudly!
