(Written in
Candy’s Year book when I was 18,
the words
superimposed over the outline of my hand)
Dear Candy,
The imprint of a hand should remind us
of these words: To all things beautiful we must reach out our hands, open our
hearts and our minds that we may live fully and be happy. Therefore, to all the
world we must be alert and willing and always finding “good”. When you think of
all that is to be learned and seen and appreciated and understood, the world
seems big and unconquerable.
But, anyone with determination can do
almost anything he sets his mind to do. There may seem to be some doubt to this
but a person will ever be able to obtain any more than he aims for. And,
although no one can have everything he wishes for, he can be happy because he tried.
“359” days have passed since Jan. 11,
1964. Seems like eternity, uh! That’s because it was a leap year. Well, anyway,
all joking aside, this is a New Year and all of our “misunderstandings”, to say
the least, are passed and forgotten.
Good luck! Candy! And I wish you all
possible happiness and that you always get the best of whatever you want!
Love,
Carl
