Mother’s Day! Mom!
(“My
Little Margie” - Mother)
You even looked like the lady in the “My Little Margie” TV show and her father was played by actor Charles Farrell. I had the prettiest Mom of all.
As a child, I looked up to you, believed everything you said, learned truth and worthwhile values. You kept us well-fed, clean, safe and saw to it that we had a good religious foundation. You could cook better than anybody and kept a spotless home. How you did it all with such ease and expertise, I’ll never understand; but, be sure that I truly am grateful for everything.
No complaints as you chauffeured us to countless ball games, ice skating, swimming, school, church, birthdays, the farm and more than I can mention. You were a better Mom than I was a son, but I really did try; I should have tried a lot harder. I was blessed with great parents and family; I still am.
I loved our trips to Tennessee. Fox Lake was a great place. You always had time for everyone and never demanded anything for yourself. You are one of the most selfless people I ever knew. Amazing how you got along without a car until I turned sixteen and then, suddenly you just had to have one. I know it was for me. You bought two boxes of chocolate covered cherries one Christmas, brought them to me at school in seventh grade so I could give them to two girls I liked. Wow!
They say boys marry girls like their mother. I surely did. Lady Candy allows that you never had anything unkind or uncharitable to say about anybody; that attitude values all lives. There are a lot of good people, surely some saints, and, I’ve even managed to find a few “real”-angels.
Yeah! I was always chasing rainbows, touched a few and even caught one or two; they’re so beautiful. You’ll always find me somewhere south of the high-noon sun and a bit west of that romantic-fantasy alabaster-pale full moon-dream galloping across a diamond-strewn heaven-abyss on a silver-white mythical winged-unicorn! I reckon that’s sure enough true! Amen!
Thanks for everything. I learned to enjoy a great life full of adventure and I have lived it well. Every day is a party, a series of exciting events. Awesome! Life is for---Living…and Loving!!!
