“Have
you finally had enough ‘fighting’? Son?”
Birth! The miracle-“Joy!” of sacred-life! Proud-mother
prays: Honor-me! Don’t ever-fight!
At age-5, Little-Billy’s mom got a call
at work to come get her “little-darling”---Immediately!...”for---‘Oh! God! Not-that!’…Fighting!
Such-disappointment! Not! My-boy!?
When Momma arrived, breathless, at the
day-care to liberate her “Good-boy!”
she tried to get an answer as to “why” her little-angel had been fighting---and…with
“whom”; she got no reply.
A simple “No-tolerance”-rule for fighting
is being enforced, sufficed---Just take-him…and, Go!
“Billy! You know I abhor ‘fighting’!” Began
the lecture to the 5-year old on the drive home.
“Now! I have to miss work---find a ‘new’
day-care, get you enrolled, if I can? Why? Did you fight! I am just so
embarrassed!” She wiped at a tear. “Your father will have to deal with you!”
Exasperated, she said, “Billy! There is
never any-excuse that can justify fighting! I hope and pray that you have
had enough fighting!” She shook her head in frustration.
Five-minutes
after Daddy got home, Momma went to the mall so she did not have to witness
Little-Billy’s deserved whipping; she despised violence, but, the child had brought it on himself.
Two-hours later she returned; Billy was
in bed, asleep; Dad had made his own dinner. Not a word was exchanged between
the pair about the incident save that Momma had to find a day-care---and…just one query about their son: Did Billy
learn his-lesson!? Dad said, simply, “Yes!”
When Billy-boy was 17, he got an escort
home from a school-dance with the local-police.
Mother answered the door, eyes wide
in-amazement! She already-knew!---Fighting!...again!
When the officer left Billy with his Mom,
she ranted and raved at his disrespect
for her.
“I just hope they don’t kick you out of
school! Have you had enough fighting!? Son!?”
On 9-11-01, Billy watched the
towers-fall! On the morning of 9-12-01, Billy, 18, enlisted!
When he kissed his mother “Good-bye!”
being deployed to Iraq, he said, “I love you! Mom!”
She wiped at a tear, replying with fear,
“Are you ever going to get enough-fighting!? Son!?”
8-months later, a Marine-Sergeant rang
the doorbell at Billy’s house!---The-end!…had-come!
A little over a year passed before the
divorce of Billy’s mom and dad became “final”.
She blamed dad for Billy’s
errant-ways---and…his eventual-demise! No-excuse
to “fight”!
As the “couple” left the courthouse as legal-“individuals”, Dad touched her
arm.
“Billy defended a smaller-girl from a “bully”
at the day-care when he was only five; the kid he pushed was the older-son of
the owner of the facility---and…I did not spank him for that.
“His run-in with the police at the
school-dance when he was 17 resulted from his intervention of three-‘elites’ accosting
a crying-girl---he should have gotten a medal…I told him exactly that!
“His decision to join the Marines after
9-11 is testament to his Honor!-of-self---and…-us!
“You’re right! ‘There is no valid-excuse to-fight!’ But, when evil-threatens to bring any-harm to innocent-victims---there is…necessary Reason-enough! Billy wanted you to know that!”
In some
perfect fantasy-world there might well be No-war!---Absent-humans!...Perhaps!?
Return the true-Love! & -Respect!
our-Heroes! offer each-of-us!---Not-everybody…can
do-it!
Rest-in-Peace!---Billy!...and, all our Heroes!
Amen!
