If you draw it---I will build it...If you don't...Iwill build it...anyway!

 

Creative-"Love"!

 

When I was a lad, I learned the "ways" of Mother Nature.

Fished and hunted since I could traipse along behind Dad.

Learned about the "seasons"; Mother's-ways; Respect!

 

Always loved animals; enjoyed their "society-community"!

My grandparents' farm provided an array of domesticated-creatures.

I loved "working" the farm; helping Grandpa-Martin and "Poppy"-

Charles feed the stock, seine the ponds, garden, butcher. (I confess,

I'm not much on handling raw-meat, loved hunting, hated "dressing"

the harvest, didn't mind tending the kettle-fires, enjoyed eating!

 

When I was "12" I got some odds and ends pieces of scrap-wood from

a house construction-job in our subdivision; workers always liked a "kid".

They provided me with enough "scrap" to build a pigeon-cage. Wow!

The local ball-field left a partial-roll of 1" X 2" - 4' backstop-wire;

I liberated the errant-"discard" for the front of my aviary! Good-job!

 

I was "hooked"; loved to build. Our family bought older homes when

I was growing-up; I got a lot of practice in carpentry, electric, plumbing,

painting, flooring---the...works! My Dad thought "hard-work" built strong-

"character". He was very definitely---Right!...I should-a turned out...Better!

 

When we married, Lady-Candice had a flair for decorating---she has...a lot of Class!

 

We purchased an older home and redecorated it, a bit at a time.

In 3-years we sold it for a tidy-profit and built our 1sr "new"-home

on 10-acres; I put in a swimming-pool and we had horses! The site

sat high on a bluff overlooking the Mississippi River valley. Spectacular!

I still miss those awesome sunsets; six-years later, I sold it and bought a farm!

 

Our "homes" over the years grew from a mental-idea concluded by the

Lay-of-the-land telling me "what" it wanted constructed on the site.

 

So many people get a "house-plan", then find a lot and force the issue;

such "vacancy" will suffice, but, if one lets the land "choose"---Beauty!

 

From the mental-image came a rough freehand-drawing on paper; Lady-

Candice then took that rendition and drew it to scale on large graph-paper.

That "design" served as a blueprint---and...I grabbed my a hammer and saw!

 

As we constructed the building, we improvised and changed the design as

"new"-ideas manifest themselves. All-in-all, the conclusions were Excellent!

 

Our last building-project was on 31-acres. I put in a 2-acre lake plus two smaller

ponds. The house sported 46-large-windows (I love-glass, would build the

structure as a single-block of clear-light!), vaulted ceilings, a "wet"-bar (though

neither of us drink). It is quite the show-place. Brought a very "pretty"-penny!

 

Must have "gypsy"-blood---can't sit-still...keeps me ahead of the "bill"-collectors!?

 

Angel Lady-Candice has indulged my lunacy for nearly 53-years! Thank-you! Ma'am!

 

I have a "few" (about 20+) ideas floating around in my "construction"-mind. Hmm!

 

Hell!---Might just give 'er a whorl!?...there's life in the old-dog...Yet!?

 

And---on the 'morrow pink-blush dawn...another-day for fine-adventure!
