Amazing!?---or...is it!? Hmm!

 

Truth!---Please!...Just..."Truth!"

 

A friend of mine called; he's a salesman for a major-corporation.

Seems he scored a really "big"-deal today. Congratulations!

 

This one totaled some six-figures; last month he lost a "7"-figure deal!?

 

He neither "brags" nor "complains"; just "goes-along".

 

This deal he did on his own; last month was a "collaborative"-effort.

 

The previous deal fell through because one of his "team" failed.

 Today, he did it on his own absent the "team"---Dangerous!?…
the V.P. of Sales congratulated him! Me, too! Good-job!
 

Seems so strange to me, Truth is both---elusive...and, easy! Hmm!

 

My buddy is not upset at the strange turn of events; only, I am.

 

He is of another generation; outcome seems more "conditioned".

 

When I walked the "corporate"-halls, I was an Independent-Individual.

 

Today, that virtue is frowned upon---"Team"-effort...Ah! Nirvana!?

 

Everybody knows the "Truth"!---always have...too many liars, now!

 

The kids down at the local high school all know who the top of the

intellectuals are, who the "druggies" are, the "best"-teachers, the

useless-administrators, the kind, the "Good", the "bad" and "ugly".

 

Yeah! They all---know...but, few will stand-tall against conformity. Sad!

 

So? What's this got to do with my salesman-friend. Mediocrity!

 

Such "tolerance" of less-than-excellence breeds a sickening-contempt.

An unpleasant true-appraisal of self going along just to get-along.

The "team"-member who failed the 7-figure deal should have been fired!

He was not; just a big corporate-laugh and back-slapping! Ha!-Ha!

Better-"luck" next-time!---Well! Okay!...But, Bye-bye commission!

 

So?---Hey!...What's the diff!? No-foul! No-harm! Good-attitude!?

 

Such breeds more and more mediocrity!---Like it?..Not...me!

Can anybody remedy this mess?---Yeah!...The "collective"-we!
One true Independent-Individual at-a -time!

Can't have just-anyone "rock-the-boat"!? Maybe it needs "capsizing"!
