Day 363
Ronnie’s
Drive-Inn Theater---“Gus” with
Tim Conway &
Don Knotts;
Herbie, the love bug” and
Herbie, the love bug” and
we got a stuffed
car
“Oldsters”
will remember the Drive-In theaters
of “The-day”! Delightful “big”-screen outdoor nighttime adventure! Several in
our area offered delightful entertainment for a few bucks for a car load. Some
times (They tell me!?) the delights were not only on the screen---but…in the
car.
But---that’s
another story…for another time! Hmm!-Hmm!
Anyway,
when our Beth came along, we continued our “Drive-in” adventures---Somewhat!?
One
fine evening as nightfall approached, the family ventured to the outdoor
theater to view the new Disney-movie-Herbie!
About a VW racing-car with real life faculties. As we pulled up to the kiosk to
pay to enter, the clerk surprised us---handing us a miniature of “Herbie” the
Love-bug…announcing that we were car number 53 and won the mascot of the movie.
“53” was Herbie’s number painted on his doors in the movie. Beth was absolutely
Thrilled!
She
treasured the token for many years.
This
Cookie Jar Sweet Memories-entry is a
“bit” out of rhythm in that the movie was “Herbie”. We did enjoy “Gus” at
another time, but, they did not award us a “donkey”, then!?
Could-a been a “Hee! Haw!” Memory!?
