Equine love-culture (Pat 1 of 2)

“Stable”-morning Callings

Dawn-hint horizon line; grey fog caresses pine-scent hollow
Surreptitious scouting-light marks trace for sunrise follow

Wily whitetail trophy buck sniffs morning chill in cedar-thicket yonder
Steeds awaken morning “whinny”-nicker-greetings adventure-wonder

Before the crescent-redness kisses indigo sky, riders descend upon the stable
Grain-buckets rattle, alfalfa-flakes forked to mangers as grooms set the table

Orange-crimson orb, at last, victorious-triumphed ascending-full cerulean abyss
Equine-caretakers scurry filling water troughs; stall-cleaning urchin guy and miss

Steeds tethered cross-tie brush-currying tooth-combed to unravel-fluff mane-tail
Pasture-herd alert-ears sentinel the ridge above a frog-pond of cattail harbor-swale

Tack-checked with bridle-clean and saddle-soaped, equestrians “Mount!”
Warm-up in the outdoor arena around painted proper jumps myriad to count

Tiny-tendril tornadic-spirals dust-rise with each precise hoof beat prance
Feel the rhythm count 1-2-3 prepare free-fly the bar in a spiritual dance

Rail patterns-practiced train athletic noble beast, educate the experienced-rider
Two-point trot to canter correct-lead intricate like some awesome web-of-spider

Piqued-personalities honed, now on display as participants “show-y” their stuff
Proud horses, they are, the noble beast; and, too, the masters are pretty---tough

Hot-blood flowing free, strong-muscles loose, agile-ready through the gate
Cross-country field awaits with ups and downs of difficult challenged-fate

Hear thunder-powerful cadence-drum of racing chargers rhythm-stride glades
“Ou’s!” and “Ah’s!” exclaim rush-whispers applauding equestrian accolades
