Sunrise!---Sunset!...Pretty!
Hunkered in a tree stand on a
late-November grey-leaden cloud-day
waiting for a “trophy” whitetail-buck to
mosey-by within leathal
range of the “Bawana!
Great-white-hunter’s” trusty deadly-weapon
while watching with a shiver as escaped
warm-breath met 20° frigid-
air in a foggy-vapor impatiently
awaiting a future massive wall-mounting
and, also, some-hint of a promised
rising sun which, he knew, would offer
no warm-comfort, the hunter, at last,
caught sight of the golden-orb glow.
Small-twigs on the host tree-branches
began to slightly-vibrate at their
very tips; with this obfuscated-hint,
the man sensed sunrise was at-hand.
To confirm his acumen, the
freezing-temperature dropped precipitously as
the frigid morning-wind increased
in-velocity shaking the ambush-hut.
In twenty-minutes the orange-orb would
ascend the eastern-horizon to
fully-escape the “night”-hold of the
errant midnight wee-hours slowly
relented its dark, cold hold giving-way
to the new-born day-of-light.
Mr. Whitetail might show---he
may-not…these memories warmed the-hunter.
The experience-of-Life!---is…in the appreciating-enjoyment of time & space!
Hunting is not some “blood-lust” killing
of the quarry; it is in the living.
Once the season ends---or the game is
harvested…the “game” is over!
Photos of the “trophy”, if attained,
pale in-comparison to the sunrise-beauty!
A suffering of a little-cold quickly
fades with the awesome blasé-of-sunrise!
The “warm”-experience quickly triumphs any perceived-discomfort of-cold!
Sunrise!---day will-come and be and pass-on…only
to-enjoy…Sunset!
In that interim between the glory of
new-day sun and close of sunset-glow
exists a time & space in-appreciation and contemplation of Life!-Love!
A place to-think! To-consider! To-evaluate! To-challenge! To-plan!
In that sacred-cathedral of the “Great-outdoors”---Praise! Honor! Glory!...to-God!
A natural grandeur-of-nature
born---celebrates…embraces Awesome-wonder!
An instant for-regret will too-soon
come---with…no-more pretty-sunsets!
I will sleep well tonight, as-always,
anticipating the ’morrow-promised dawn!
Amen!
