Baseball! Professor! Chess! & Pure-wit!---Pure…“Love!”
I confess a purposed “modern”
transgress: I never had any-plan!
My “kid”-world revolved around an easy
conclusion: Faith! Family! Freedom!
Parameters-set of simple-necessity:
My-town! The-farm! & Fox-Lake! Amen!
Many of my-contemporaries entertained seemingly myriad
sophisticated-ambitions!
Some wanted celebrity! Or fame! Or fortune! All---seeking…perceived-Happiness!
A few sought “Good”-grades!
Some-careers! Trophy-mates!
Education! Accolades!
The gamut runs as far & wild as any “kid” might dare to dream the impossible!
Amen!
Faith! Family!
Freedom!
necessary-desire engaged my ambition for Truth!
& Justice!
I found redemption for my-“wants” in the
confines of a self-revered sacred-trinity!
Parents like kids might pray-for! (My
Dad & Mom rewarded with the likes
of---me!?)
A saintly-spouse (angelic)! Perfect-children like my own-parents deserved! Hmm!?
And, then---when it can’t get any-better?...more-Love! Grandchildren! Wow!
When “baseball”-Z. Tyler came along, I
turned 40! And, retired! So we could play!
I took him out of school and we played
golf! I “cheated” on the score-card in those
very-early years---so Z. always
“won”!...By his 12th year…I couldn’t beat him! True!
I hit him op-flies with an aluminum-bat and
a golf-ball so high it seemed to virtually-
disappear; he'd meander-over, watch
it-return, and catch it easy-nonchalant! Talent!
At 10, I’d throw the baseball in a
high-arc so that it would just clear the yard-fence;
He’d mosey-back, judge the-distance, leap-high
and save the “home-run”! Bravo!
Then, comes our Lauren Victoria girl!
Precious-sweet! LuVy! The
Little-Professor!
I taught her to faux-“cough” when I said
“Bad-cough!”---Cool!...Doc didn’t think-so!
She took over “parenting” when
cousin-Lexi and sister-Anna came along! Age:”2”!
Smart as a “whip”! I soon dubbed her
“Little-Professor!” & “Little-mommy!” Love!
Our-beauty is 2nd-semester at
Kentucky-University! Already made the Dean’s-list! Wow!
Love’s to-cook! The “Love-of-her-life”?---a
tall-equine named “Skippy!”…Yippie-Yi-Aye!
Our Lovely-Lexi came to us 17-years
after her older-brother, Z. Tyler! Yea!
Alexandria Elizabeth! (Wow! How did she
ever learn to spell that one-correctly?)
So-beautiful! Smart! Softball-thletic!
Polite! Kind! A heaven-sent blessing! Amen!
I taught Lexli-Lu to play chess when she
was just 6-years old! Beat-me! Every-time!
She always uses the-secret 4-move to checkmate before I can even begin to think! Smart!
Lexi still doesn’t like when I absently
call her “Ezmarelda!” It’s
an-endearment! Honest!
Like her myriad other-talents, Lexi
rides the thunder-steeds like some wild-wind!
Yahoo!
Finally---our little-“Pistola”!...Precious-Anna Marie! Beauty! Intelligence! & Wit!
All the same characteristics of her
beautiful-sister Lauren and cousins Z. and Lexi!
A “great” equestrian-master with talent!
Loves animals; like the others! Benevolent!
She loves to-cook! Gets straight-“A’s”!
Rides her “Zorro”-horse like some wild-wind!
Annie used to trade “barbs” with “Bapa”
like a veteran; she is quite the-“wit”!
In my old age, Anna has relented---Respect!?...Hmm!? Might well-be---“pity”!?
Each “blessing” has comforted our-lives!
Brought immense-“Joy!” & “Love!”
All-4 love to cook!---And, like
everything they do…Experts! “Yum!-Yum!”
Over some 7-decades, I’ve expanded my
parameters---geographically…slightly!?
I never nurtured some “grand”-ambition;
that’s for other faux “Royal!?”-elites!?
Planned-marriages! Right-religion! Contiguous farm-land empires!? Really!?
Marry Mr.-“Right”!? Very best-university!?
Big-house! Best zip-code! Huh!?
Reckon all I ever “wanted”, in some-fantasy, was simply One-Great-Family!
I sure-enough got that-Right!
Couldn’t ask for any better-Blessing! Amen!
