"Not-so-random" thoughts & Day 173 CJSM

Too often visits the "Pale rider"-Death-demon...

A universal offer of  Hope! Comfort! Inspiration!
through:
Live! Love! Laugh!
with:
Faith! Family! Freedom!

To wit:

Honor Lives!

Honor seems the conclusion of practiced Love!-Respect!

That we live Honor is a misnomer; rather than a
premeses to some end-conclusion, Honor  is that result.

When demon-death arrives as the pale-rider to
tap the next victim on the shoulder, the essential
lessons of the Bible: Fear not! Follow Me! come
to final meaning in understanding light-glow!

Too late, then, for lamenting transgressed-sin;
no time left to beg, to cry, to repent; only
that reality of the present-now---and…judgment.

If---thou lives Love!-Respect!---then Honor! Reigns!

In the dark-dead of night the icicle finger of demon-death
reaches out to claim a “victory” for the evil-one; to torment
the living left to cope with the insult of love-lost.

Such pernicious-evil leaves a void within the tender-
heart of Love-lost; to assuage the emptiness we pour
in love’s-respect to recompense: sacred-Honor!

But, me Fellow-believer! Turn the tables on the evil-deed.

Celebrate! Through bitter tears relive the Love!---come…smile!

For the demise has brought one Salvation with the Lord! Amen!

Honor! Life through pleasant memory, through time and space---
And…Love!-Respect! Preserving sacred-Honor!

Where ’ere they now repose, gone, surely, from among us,
give Honor! resurrected-life in celebration of Love!-Respect!

No “evil” can ever win if we should choose not to participate.

Allow “sorrow”-value evolve in Love!-Respect! to virtue sacred-Honor!

I wish thee well! I pray thee Peace! In Love!-Respect! of Honor!
 Live! Love! Laugh!---Faith! Family! Freedom!

Amen!

Day 173

Where is Daisy? Where is Daisy?

Next day Daisy is found…she had

been loaded into the horse trailer and

locked inside. She never barked, just

waited for Becky to come back.

Daisy was such a good dog!

Becky sure enough loves animals; Beth, too. So do Candy and I and all our progeny.

Becky would play with Irish-setter, Daisy, for hours on end, delighted in the frivolity.

When I bought a horse trailer with a “timely” donation from Candy’s parents, Becky made the most of the addition. She trussed poor ole Daisy up with a horse halter and attached a lead rope so she could “practice” loading and unloading her “horse” in the new trailer. Great fun!

I reckon she was only about three or four at the time; we lived on the ten-acre “view” land.

One day we all got up and called for “Daisy” who turned out to be a “no-show”. We figured she was off somewhere on a great dog-adventure, unusual for her, and would return. Wrong!

We all went off to work and school and the babysitter; when we got home---no…Daisy!

We searched and called for hours. No luck!

Finally, Becky opened the door to the new horse trailer---and…there was our Daisy! Right where little Becky had left her “horse” the afternoon prior.

Thanks! Boys & Girls! For all the heart-warming memories!

Thoughts & Day 172 CJSM

Advice!?

2 things I am cognizant of every day
and practice into positive-habit:

1)      Learn something “new”;
and,
2)      Make somebody “smile”!

Don’t forget to smile, yourself!
Amen!

Day 172

Bapa to the little girls, “Which hand?”

That “Santa Claus” theme seems to be quite pervasive in me.
Once I had a job (Oh! God! Not that) where I got a nice monthly bonus amounting from a few hundred to a few thousand dollars (usually in the hundreds, but, I did have my days).
Back in the day we did not have direct deposit and all such “sophistication”; I got a paper check and took it to my bank to deposit. The “bonus” money check I got in cash ($100’s).
When I got home, I’d roll up several bills in two piles and hide them in my clinched fists.
I’d call the little girls, hold out my hands with the money hidden, and say, “Which hand?”
Beth and Becky would each choose a hand and get the hidden $100’s; I enjoyed that trick!
When Z. Tyler and the “new” little girls came along, I persisted in my “Santa Claus” routine.
It wasn’t, and, still isn’t, always money; might be candy or ball tickets---or…you-name-it!

Day 171

Beautiful views of the bottoms

Our first house as a family was in town on a main thoroughfare; lived there three years.
Then, I found a building lot of 10acres. The property sat on a bluff overlooking Fountain Creek to the south and the Mississippi River valley to the west. The view was outstanding giving sight into the neighboring state of Missouri for quite some miles, maybe 20, or, so. Those sunsets were phenomenal and I sure enough shot up some number of 35 exposure 35mm rolls.
We had a gate in the back pasture which led to the bottoms and the levee along Fountain Creek for about six miles to the big ole Mississippi River. Many “full-moon” nights we invited our horse friends for a “Moon light” ride; one night we had sixty-three horses on the trail. Becky fell asleep in my arms on several of those rides when she was too small to mount her own steed.
We entertained ourselves; the “simple” things of life provided adequate enjoyment.
Things like birthday parties, bar-b-ques, swimming, day trips, photography, shooting, fishing and hunting. Faith! Family! Freedom! Makes the “Good” life an easy accomplishment.
Often, we took car rides in the river bottoms along the bluffs; sometimes we had a convertible, adding more “fun” to the outings. Fall was, and, is, my favorite time of the year although I’d be hard pressed to make any determination not to be excited by any season. Even dreaded Midwest summers with wicked humidity has seemed to slacken in its torment.
Snow might just be my favorite Mother Nature treat; I love a good thunderstorm, too.
Whatever she dishes up, I’m “all-in”. Life is “Great”! And, whatever you decide to make of it.

Celebrate! Amen!

Thoughts & Day 170 CJSM

2 things happen when you grow (Oh! God! No!) “old”:

1)      Your memory goes;

And,

b) Uh!---er…I forgot!

Day 170

Going for a ride to look at lights in hopes
That Santa would come before church

They say the 4 phases of “Santa Claus” are:

1)      I believe in Santa Claus;
2)      I begin to wonder about Santa Claus;
3)      I do not believe in Santa Claus;
And---finally…
4)      I am Santa Claus!

Proud be simple-humble I to confess: I really am Santa Claus (metaphorically).
When the kids were little, Santa came on Christmas Eve to dispense his “goodies”.
Dad couldn’t wait to eat supper so Ole Santa could come; they restrained me-barely!
All sorts of great gifts from clothes and “special” foods to jewelry and tack and horses!
The year we gave the girls a Morgan mare name of Midget stands out. Exciting!
I gave Lovely Lady Candice Leah her 1st new bicycle (yellow) on her 30tth Christmas!
Ole Santa had a ball at Christmas; then he stretched the event throughout the year.
I can’t help it! I just love to---give…and, I get to do it all year long. A divine blessing!
Think that such “fantasy” is impossible? Try giving a smile, kind word, Love!
Life is what you make it! Choose wisely! Freely! And, often! Have a Great day!

Ah! Cookie Jar Sweet “Merry Christmas! Memories!

Day 169

The day Becky tied the “trespasser’s” door
To the steering wheel in case he shot Mom & Dad

Becky was about 5 or 6 when this “inconvenience” occurred.
We had purchased a farm of 214 acres; a “neighbor had 40 acres contiguous to our property.
I enjoyed deer hunting; so did the trespasser neighbor hoodlum who liked hunting on my side of the fence. I had “politely” requested that they stay on their own property, three separate times, all to no avail. The fourth incursion caused me to call the Sheriff.
When the law showed up, I took him to the tree stand of the interloper and the lawman asked the criminal to stay off my property. I left when the law did, but, the neighbor was plenty mad and butted the door of my brand new 4-wheel drive truck with the muzzle of his shotgun. (Yeah! In the “great” state of Illinois, only shotguns and muzzle-loaders are allowed for deer; recently the state added a handgun season.) We exchanged a few words, of sort, and I went home.
The “Idiot” came over to my land with his son to confront me; Candy and the girls saw him approach and while we “discussed” things in the field, Becky tied a piece of hay twine to the man’s door and steering wheel so that, if he shot me and Candy, he couldn’t get away.
When I tried to explain that I had been patient in three attempts to establish my legal boundary line and that he and his family had ignored my requests, he became even more agitated and in exasperation, said, “You’ve got all this land and all I have is 40 acres!” He gestured wide.
I cooly replied, “It’s for sale---if…you can write a big enough check to buy it!” He left.
Thanks! Becky! For looking out for your old Dad; I appreciate the effort.

Thoughts & Day 168 CJSM

Upon myriad dancing-diamond waves

In Simple-Humble pleasure search I find a diamond treasure
Love-Peace in soul-spirit-mind embrace soft-solitude measure
Upon yon lake-surface expanse me dancing-diamond pleasure

Comes ever-soft drift whisper-wind

And, now, yon storm-fury has been and gone and cleansed
and freshed as whisper-wind cool-soothes present time-space

Day 168

Becky & Beth would love perusing the toy aisles
while Mom & Dad waited to pick up a catalogue
order from J. C. Penny in South County

“Young” people, today, will find this archaic manner of shopping “on-line” a much an antique as the “old” people who trafficked in such ridiculous travesties of the once “modern”-era.
Yeah! Kids! We had (God forbid) “land-lines”; phones hooked together by cables connecting to other phones so we could communicate with one another. No “smart ”phone Amazon-ordering!
It was the “olden”-times? We called information for a phone number, called the store and placed a catalogue order, then, waited 5-7 days for the store to call us announcing the package had arrived at which time we loaded up the chariot and headed to the “catalogue” pick-up point.
But, the retailers and “entrepreneurs” of our day had it all figured---in their favor!
The waiting area at the pick-up store had chairs (because---you had to take a number and wait to be called for service), then the clerk went into a “secret” back room and found your order---well…maybe? Sometimes, it was lost, or, they called you and shouldn’t have. Hmm!
Anyway, the store had toy aisles set up in the waiting room area so your kids could peruse the “goodies”---whether, or not, your order was in….they usually made---a toy-sale…or, two!
Next time you get frustrated with today’s “modern” technology---just…re-read this tale!
