To kiss Thee-awake in tempting first pink-blush hint of new-day dawn

One more-time! Another-chance! To-Better perfect-yesterday! Amen!

Angels! Decorated Hero-Saints! My sacred Michael-Guardian beside-me!

Respite! Mid-morn! In shade-filigree of ancient silver-maple tree-delight

Heavy hay-bale strained-muscles treasure-secured in the aroma-sweet loft

Fed the sheep, cattle, porkers, chickens, geese & ducks! Breakfast-time!

On-through the morn to noon-time comfort-warm enjoy a Spartan-lunch

Come supper-time! First---feed all the-stock!...When-done? My-turn!

 ---"And, in any-end"...

A Sioux-arrow had caught him low in the right-back;

a young-warrior had slipped behind his fallen tree-

trunk barricade at the edge-of-the-river and let-fly.

Life in the-wild depended on-"Luck" as much as-"acumen"!

He had dropped 2 of the 4-savages with his-Winchester; as 

the survivors rode away "whopping"-it-up! They would later 

sit around the campfire and tell the-tale making them-"Heroes".

Before they were out-of-sight and their "courageous"-yells had 

died-away, the man felt his life draining into the cool-sand.

With an-effort, wincing in abject-pain, he rolled himself, with an 

audible-gasp, onto his-side; he-raised his-head high-enough to 

see the grand-view above the branches of his now-defunct-fort.

Bluish-mountains capped with brilliant-white greeted his-eyes!

He-smiled at the raw-beauty! There, had been his-"home" for-years!

As a grey-veil obfuscated his pleasant-memory, he-blinked. Before-

him focused an expanse of green-ocean waves with white-crests; 

sea-birds rode the-winds and twirled acrobatic-abandon! Beautiful!

He had seen the-elements; embraced-life! Lived! Loved! Died!

He-awoke! Opened his-eyes! The brown-sand came up to meet-him!

A wolf-pack waded the stream. brought forward by the stench-of-death!

---"And, in any-end"...---a satiated-Spirit!...Finally...Redemption-Freedom!

Elementary-school kids are out picking up "litter" adults threw-away!

one Becky has and I'll trade her for the new-one; sounds "Good" to-me!?

Now---I've sold a thing-or-two in my-time; pretty-good at-it! Actually!

Tried to-teach my-progeny to be-honest---but...never miss an-opportunity!

Guess I might be somewhat of a better-instructor than I might-imagine!

Out of this serious but loving conversation comes bittersweet-realization!

"For Father's Day," Becky-began, "Mom! You could get Dad a 'router-table'."

Wow! Out of the-blue!? Is that the "router-table" Miss-Becky wants!? Hmm!

"I don't have anywhere to keep-it!" I played-along; Becky-laughed! Right!

"Gee! Daddy!" Becky-intervened, "We could 'make-room' in 'our'-garage!"

Of course, she added that "I" could feel-free to use the equipment, anytime!

So!? Okay! Rachel! Go get the router-table you like---we'll buy-it...you store-it!

Wow! It is just amazing "How?" simple-life can-be! Proud! To do-it! Kiddo!

Yeah! I was "7"! Conned my-Grandma into giving me my-Dad's 

old B-B gun I spotted in the eves of her attic; she cleared the exchange 

with Dad! He had taught me to-shoot, including gun-"safety"! Hmm!

Loving movie cowboy-"Heroes", I was mesmerized by their gun-acumen!

They could shoot the bad-guy's gun out of his hand and save the-damsel.

Well! That trusty Red Rider B-B gun was just the ticket for a wanna-be cowboy!

I shot-out a couple of-windows! Guilty! Hitting the base of a hanging lightbulb 

in the-garage caused the glass to release it and "crash" onto the concrete-floor!

"Dead-eye!" Yes! Siree! "Dead-duck!" When I confessed to "Dear-ole-dad"!

The fact that I didn't try to-lie didn't count for much!?---Actually!...Not-anything!

One of those times I tasted the vile-bite of his leather-belt! Deservedly!-Again!

The old-man! Click!-Clack! Echo!

(There’s a song in this memory-story somewhere? I’m sure there-is)

 

When I was a-kid, Lo! These 7-decades, ago, there was little-money---but…lots of-“Cool”!

 

I’d get two-pair of brand-new Levi’s for the school-year in August each-year; to date-myself, they cost $4.00/pair. That “huge”-expense bothered me, a-lot! I didn’t think it-fair to my-parents that they should have such a financial-burden because of-me; they fed and housed-me, it should have been-enough! I did chores since I can first-remember. And, I really liked to be a helping-hand. Still-do! There is a special-satisfaction in being a part of-something bigger than one's-self.

 

I mowed lawns for 50¢ a-week; did our own for-“free”! They fed me-“Good”! An-Honor!

 

I-managed well-enough! Always found Happiness! Only, occasionally caused-trouble! My Dad’s leather-belt had a “bite” one did not want to-incur on any-kind of a regular-basis!?

 

I sure-enough loved those Perfect-fit Levi’s; folded a white handkerchief into a triangle and inserted it into the right-rear pocket so just “the right-amount of flag” stuck-out. Cool!

 

But, when I learned how-expensive the jeans were, I opted for Lee- & Wrangler-brands! Each had a leather-swatch bearing their-brand; they fit-Good! Best-of-all: they were only $1.50/pair! The Cool!-emblem of the triangle white-flag looked pretty sharp, even though they weren’t Levi’s.

 

My-parents never complained about a-lack of-money! We always had-enough of-everything!

 

I did allow myself one-extravagancy: Taps on the-heels and toes of my wing-tip shoes! Hmm!

 

An old-man lived on the-corner apartment from the-school with his daughter; nice-guy!

 

He had a small-shop in the back-yard of the complex where he maintained a shoe fix-it shop.

 

We made our own entertainment in those-days; no-TV, computers, internet, money! Just-life!

 

Our-crew visited Old-man Worschem on warm-afternoons, when he was “Open”! He wore a Greek-style fishing-cap, like one might see along the modern-day Oregon-coast, had unruly silver curls flying askew around the adornment. He had a soft, inviting-voice; a quiet-demeanor! I think all the guys found him affable and everybody liked him; he might once have been a-cobbler.

 

For 25¢ he put a big-tap on the heel of each-shoe; 15¢ got two small-ones on the toes! Cool!

We managed to scrounge-up some coins, occasionally, mowing-lawns or returning soda-bottles for a recovery of a 2¢ deposit for small-bottles, a-nickel for quart-bottles. Always-a-way!

 

When I-strolled down the highly polished-floor of the school-hall---those-taps Echoed!...Cool!

Made my worthy Lee- and Wrangler-jeans feel just like treasured-Levi’s! Cool!---Man…Cool!

 

Always---Appreciative!...Amen!

Legend of the "Dogwood"-tree!

 Dogwood-tree!

The-legend is that the Dogwood-tree grew tall and hardy in

the Holy Land at the time of-Christ. When they crucified Him, 

the story-goes that they used the Dogwood-tree for His-cross!

Because His-agony resulted on the Dogwood tree, it became 

both cursed and blessed, it became diminutive of-stature as 

a-"curse" but "blessed" to remind His-people of the-suffering.

Our pink-Dogwood is blooming. The flowers are pink in-color; 

each flower has a "red" center-spot on each of its four petals.

These symbolize the Precious-Blood of-Jesus from the nails 

in His-hands and feet and the crown-of-thorns on His-head.

The center of the bloom resembles a-"crown"! Interesting!

We had a white-Dogwood, but, it died a few-years ago; they 

make a spectacular-display when they intertwine-branches!

I might plant another white-one---Just...because...they're Beautiful!

Since early-March, the-yard has been very-colorful!

Early-flowers! Wow! Star-magnolias! White-blossoms!

Now, the pink-dogwood are bursting-forth! Gorgeous!

Red-Pink flowering-trees are full 0f-blooms! Awesome!

Rain! Last-night! Perfect! Yard is a deep emerald-green!

Life!---is...Love! Appreciate and embrace each-instant!

Silver nuptial-bells crystal-tolled Love!-call from blaze tower-steeple

Come-one! Come-all! The-clarion invited adoring collective-people

 

Rumble! Rattle! Metal-wheels! Harness leather-strain!

Much Business-travel to-run the empire cattle-ranch

A Surrey-ride afore each-trip to Castle-Verde Branch

 

Horde silver-coin! Gold-dollar! Quick-tally swift-years gone

Lament! Oh! Fellow-man! “No! Not my-turn!” A vacant-song!

 

Sheriff brought a Denver-telegram: Mr. Wilson shot-dead in bar-room. Stop!

His wooden-box delivered in the rattle-buggy to yonder snow-summit top

 

2-years slip-past when demure-Yvette arrives with her taw-head little-boy

Surprise! Madame! Me-Jimmy is the-result of your-fine Mr. Wilson’s Joy!

Kind cattle-Baroness accepted the forsaken-pair out of Christian-Love

Jimmy Wilson grew to a fine young-man his father could be Proud!-of

 

Each wedding-anniversary the trio-trekked to high-summit in the-surrey

A creaking-bounce cadence slow-beat Jimmy-drove them absent any-hurry
